Q - What do I need to do to setup Internet Watchdog?
A - Check to make sure that your computer meets all of the minimum requirements needed to run Internet Watchdog. Next download your FREE copy of Internet Watchdog through this site. Follow the setup instructions that come with the software to install it on your computer.
Q - Does Internet Watchdog take pictures all the time?
A - No, Internet Watchdog monitors the images from your camera and as soon as it sees a change from one frame to the next it begins recording the images and uploading them to our server.
Q - Do I need to be online for Internet Watchdog to work?
A - Yes, when you leave for the day dial on to the internet and start Internet Watchdog, if we had Internet Watchdog dial on to the internet when it started recording, your ISP may take to long in connecting you for Internet Watchdog to upload the pictures.
Q - What happens if the thief unplugs the computer?
A - Images should have already been uploaded to our server and we'll have a picture of the thief.
Q - Do I need to be concerned with room lighting?
A - Yes, Internet Watchdog will get the best images from a well lit room, just as any camera will.
Q - How should I aim the camera?
A - Make sure that the camera is pointed at the doorway to the room, this will catch the intruder at the earliest possible moment.
Q - What happens if I come into the room and the camera starts taking my picture?
A - The images of you will be uploaded to the server, these images however will not be viewed by anyone. Only images that you request from the web site (using your User ID and Password) will be viewed by anyone.
Q - How clear are the images?
A - That depends only on the system you have. The better your computer and more importantly, the better the camera will be what determines the quality of the images.
Q - Are law enforcement officials really going to catch people from Internet Watchdog?
A - Yes, all images can be viewed online and printed out by the Police within seconds of the B&E. Of course these images are admissible in court.
Q - How many pictures will Internet Watchdog take if an intruder is detected?
A - Internet Watchdog takes 10 frames per second, however if lighting conditions are low or your computer or internet connection are slower Internet Watchdog could slow to 1 per second. Images are recorded at the first sign of an intruder and will continue as long as it detects movement or until shut down.
Q - How many images are saved using Internet Watchdog?
A - Our server will hold 200 pictures taken by Internet Watchdog at a time. This means that 20 seconds worth of images could be recorded and uploaded to the server for safe storage.
Q - What happens to older pictures or if the intruder is recorded for more than 20 seconds?
A - Because Internet Watchdog records 200 images the oldest ones will be over written to make room for the new ones. There will always be 200 of your images maintained on the server.
Q - What do I do if some one does break in and takes my computer?
A - Refer to the Image Retrieval Page for info on catching the thief.
